Using Genealogy Sources in the Round Rock Library

Using Genealogy Sources in the Round Rock Library  (Monthly Meetings)
7:00 pm to 7:45 pm
Round Rock Library, 200 E Liberty Ave, Meeting Room A&B
Our society's Librarian, Barry Allison, will give us an introduction to the genealogy holdings in the Round Rock Library.  He will also help us understand how to approach researching in the holdings.  For example, did you know we have a copy of Persons of Quality?  This contains the original lists of persons of quality: emigrants; religious exiles; political rebels; serving men sold for a term of years; apprentices; children stolen; maidens pressed; and others who went from Great Britain to the American plantations from 1600 to 1700.
There are many other useful holdings.  For example, are you familiar with the book, They Came in Ships?  There are how to books, any many state specific references.  Come and learn what the Library and our Society have put together over the years that make our library one of the best genealogical sources in our area.

Siblings and Ethnicity, Lazarus, Endogamy and BanyanDNA
Wednesday, June 24
Siblings and Ethnicity, Lazarus, Endogamy and BanyanDNA  (DNA SIG)
7:00 pm to 8:00 pm
online only
We will discuss differences in sibling test results, including comments on ethnicity, use of Lazarus to resurrect a deceased person’s DNA, and lastly Endogamy and BanyanDNA.  Wow-what an eclectic mix of DNA topics!  The discussion should give you a better understanding of DNA  and how it exists in our families.  Of particular note is criteria from Leah Larkin for determining whether a particular DNA test comes from an endogamous population!  Alan Rabe is the instructor.
